Colour!Colour!Colour!

This week, its all about colours! Colours that suit your bedroom, kitchen, and every other living space. Whether you live in a  mansion or a one bedroom apartment, colours play a large factor in any home and we are going to show you how to choose the right palette for your various spaces. Studies and research have shown that colours can have a profound effect on the emotional well being of you and your household. .Having the right shade of hue in any living space you own can either enhance or worsen your mood. For example, waking up to a room  painted with bright, optimistic colours like yellow, blue or white can give you a positive attitude for the day. Later on this week, we would give you different colours and what kind of effects they can have on us.
When it comes to mixing and matching colours in a home, you would want to either tone, harmonise or contrast. Here is a more detailed explanation of the three.

Toning; Colour toning is basically mixing a dominant colour with a neutral colour that is usually black, white or grey thereby decreasing or increasing its colourfulness while still maintaining its original hue. Now, you can apply this in your home by using a particular colour on a wall then picking accessories or furnitures in shades from that same colour family.

Harmonising: Harmonising colours usually lie between primary colours. They are colours that seem to suit each other and look like they can belong in the same colour category but don't such as red and orange, blue and green, pink and purple and so on. When used correctly, harmonised colours is the perfect way to create a subtle balanced scheme.

Contrasting; Colours that are completely opposite from each other are said to be clashing but when put together nicely, these clashing colours can result in something pleasing to the eye. A perfect example of this is called colour blocking. To make a real style statement, as this is not an easy style to pull off, combine colours such as red and green, purple and yellow, Brown and pink and so on.
