Flooring ideas for your home.

Yes dear reader, you can have options for your floors asides from the regular tiles/rug look we know and are used to. Coming from a typical Nigerian, not until i started exploring the field of interior décor, some things were news to me. so this post would give you an in depth knowledge into the many floor looks you can give your entire home or just different spaces in your home.

Hardwood

Hardwood floors are known to last a lifetime and even look better with time. Solid hardwoods are an elegant flooring option that not only adds beauty, depth and unique character to any space but also adds value. The species vary in durability, grain patterns, and colour. Oak, maple, and cherry are among the most common species due to their hardness. You can get them to look glossy/ shiny or you can buy the ones that have a worn/distressed look that will disguise heavy use over the years and give the floor an appealing time-worn appearance from the moment it's installed. For busy households with pets and kids, it's a good idea to choose the hardest wood species possible

Linoleum

Often compared to vinyl, linoleum makes linoleum a good flooring choice especially used in the kitchen because of its durability and ability to withstand water, heat and scratches. Linoleum colours and patterns can be mixed and matched to create many designs. It is inherently antibacterial and antistatic, making it hygienic and easy to clean and a plus for avid cooks: linoleum floors are soft and comfortable underfoot.

Concrete

It's not just for side walks; concrete is a stylish choice for indoor floors. Its surface can be finished in various ways—with colours, stains, and aggregates—and given a textured surface or buffed until glassy. Concrete floors are extremely durable and easy to clean, and they resist water when properly sealed. Concrete works well with radiant heating, and the surface absorbs heat to cut energy bills. Concrete also looks nice with actual stone veneer walls. It accentuates their rustic appeal

Cork

If the word "cork" only brings to mind wine bottle stoppers, think again. Sleek and contemporary, this resilient flooring is enjoying a surge in popularity. It is versatile from a design standpoint, thanks to the availability of tiles or planks in a variety of colours and sizes. It's also warm and soft underfoot. And cork is a natural insulator, meaning it muffles sound and lowers energy bills. Cork floors can be left cork's natural colour, stained or painted.Made from tree bark, cork floors are sustainable and come in a range of colours

Bamboo

Bamboo floors have become more popular in recent years, due to their many similarities to hardwood flooring. Bamboo flooring has a chic, exotic look but is still relatively inexpensive, which makes it a highly appealing flooring option for many. Like hardwood floors, bamboo flooring shares the same visual characteristics and colours that add natural warmth to the home. Unlike hardwood floors however, bamboo isn't harvested from trees. Instead it’s made from one of the largest natural growing grasses, thus making it an evolving and eco-friendly flooring solution for man

Ceramic Tiles

Made from natural materials like ceramic, stone or glass, tile can withstand heavy foot traffic, water, spills and doesn't absorb odours or bacteria. It can stand up to pets and children and it can go with any style décor. And tile can be arranged in a multitude of patterns. Known for its versatility, durability, and cool elegance, it's no wonder tile floors are so popular. Once reserved for busy entries, baths, and kitchens, tile is making its way into every room in the house. They can look rustic or cutting edge and can be installed in virtually any pattern.

Vinyl

The most popular type of resilient flooring, vinyl is durable, low maintenance, and easy on the budget. Vinyl floor has more depth and texture today than it did a generation ago, so it can look like hardwood, tile, and stone, and it comes in a variety of colours. Vinyl is soft underfoot, so it's comfortable to stand on for long periods. It's also warmer to the touch than hard surfaces like tile. Vinyl comes in various levels of gloss so you can get a range of looks
